We’ve created a unique space for our guests called ‘The Hub’, meaning it’s the heart of Peaks and Pods.
The focal point is a large, sheltered social space where couples, friends and families can get together away from their pods and enjoy the open air and stunning views.
The space is sheltered by a skylight roof and the view is framed by chunky wooden posts and a perfect ranch-style fence to lean on. We’ve upcycled wooden cable reels, spare from our wind turbine installation, to provide tables and seating, along with colourful tractor seat stools. We’ve used festoon and fairy lights to create a lovely atmosphere at night and have installed coin-operated energy-efficient heaters to keep guests warm on the coldest of nights. There’s even a new two-seater wooden swing seat – perfect for snuggling up with a couple of blankets and cushions.
A great room, just off the sheltered space, is The Little Laundry. You’ll find a coin-operated washer and dryer in there, as well as a folding clothes rack and heater. For your little ones there’s a highchair, changing mat, toddler step and shower mat that guests can borrow, as well as shelves full of family games and toys. There’s a rack full of useful local area leaflets, a book basket with a wildlife theme, and a selection of DVDs.
Our bike store is positioned just off the car park and guests can use it to store their bikes in safety. Inside, there’s a bike repair stand and pump, and outside there’s a hose pipe for washing off your two wheels.
An old school sink gives guests somewhere to wash their hands after a muddy cycling trip, or after petting the livestock! There’s warm running water, along with hand wash and paper towels. There’s a super local area map on the wall too, which does help you to work out exactly where you are!
The Hub is popular with whole-site groups and guests have enjoyed wedding and anniversary celebrations, special birthdays and even World Cup and Royal Wedding parties!
